5055-xxx Message Meaning Action 54 Serial Option Error The printer has detected a serial interface error on a serial port. 54 Network Software Error The printer cannot establish communications with an installed network port. 54 Standard or Std Software Error 54 Std Par ENA Connection Lost The printer has lost the connection to an external print server. 54 Par ENA Connection Lost 56 Serial Port Disabled Data has been sent to the printer through a disabled serial port. 56 Parallel Port Disabled 56 Std Parallel Port Disabled Data has been sent to the printer through a disabled parallel port. • Make sure the serial link is set up correctly and you are using the appropriate cable. • Press Go to clear the message and continue. • Press Menu to open the Job Menu and reset the printer. • Press Go to clear the message and continue printing. • Program new firmware for the network interface by way of the parallel port. • Press Menu to open the Job Menu and reset the printer. • Make sure the cable connecting the ENA and the printer is securely attached. Turn the printer off and then on to reset. • Press Go to clear the message and continue printing. • Press Go to clear the message. • Make sure the Serial Buffer menu item in the Serial Menu is set to Disabled. • Press Go to clear the message. • Make sure the Parallel Buffer menu item in the Parallel Menu is set to Disabled. 2-46 Service Manual
