Extended IPv4 Host Cache Management Guidelines When configuring the extended IPv4 host cache feature, consider the following guidelines: • The default option configures the switch to store entries for local and remote IPv4 hosts in the LPM tables. On NETGEAR 8800 switches, the default setting creates room for 48 local and remote IPv4 host entries. This option provides more room for IPv4 multicast and IPv6 hosts in the L3 Hash table. • The maximum option reserves all space in the LPM tables for IPv4 and IPv6 routes.
