The Setup Menu Motion Detection Press the d button M z menu icon (A6) M Motion detection Enable motion detection to reduce the effects of camera shake and subject movement when shooting still pictures. Option Description If the camera detects the movement of the subject or camera shake, the ISO sensitivity is raised and the shutter speed is increased to reduce their effects. However, motion detection does not function in the following situations. • When the flash fires U Auto • In the following scene modes: X (Night landscape), S (Night (default setting) portrait), W (Backlighting), Sports, Dusk/dawn, Museum, Fireworks show, Easy panorama, Pet portrait, 3D photography • When Continuous (E34) is set to Pre-shooting cache, Continuous H: 120 fps, Continuous H: 60 fps or Multi-shot 16 • When ISO sensitivity (E37) is set to other than Auto k Off Motion detection is not enabled. When Auto is selected, an icon for this setting is displayed on the monitor (A8). The motion detection icon lights in green when the camera detects any vibration and increases the shutter speed. B Notes on Motion Detection • Motion detection may be unable to completely reduce effects of camera shake and subject movement in some situations. • Motion detection may not function if the subject exhibits significant movement or is too dark. • The pictures taken may become grainy. • Some features cannot be used in combination with other menu settings.
