The Setup Menu Format Memory/Format Card Press the d button M z menu icon (A6) M Format memory/Format card Format the internal memory or a memory card. Formatting permanently deletes all data in the internal memory or memory card. The deleted data cannot be recovered. Be sure to transfer important pictures to a computer before formatting. Formatting the Internal Memory To format the internal memory, remove the memory card from the camera. The Format memory option is displayed on the setup menu. Formatting Memory Cards When a memory card is inserted in the camera, the memory card can be formatted. The Format card option is displayed on the setup menu. B Formatting Internal Memory and Memory Card • When formatting the camera's internal memory or the memory card, album icons (E7) are reset to their default icons (number icon). • Do not turn off the camera or open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover during formatting. • The first time you insert a memory card that has been used in another device into this camera, be sure to format it with this camera.
