Error Messages This section lists the indicators and error messages that appear in the viewfinder and monitor. A Warning Icons A flashing d in the monitor or s in the viewfinder indicates that a warning or error message can be displayed in the monitor by pressing the Q (W) button. Indicator Monitor Viewfinder Solution 0 Lock lens aperture ring at minimum aperture (largest f/-number). B Set lens aperture ring to minimum aperture (blinks) (largest f-number). 17, 158 Lens not attached. Shutter release disabled. Recharge battery. F/s • Attach non-IX NIKKOR lens. 16 (blinks) • If non-CPU lens is attached, select mode M. 159 Turn camera off and recharge or replace battery. 14, 15 This battery can not be used. Choose battery designated for use in this camera. Initialization error. Turn camera off and then on again. d Use Nikon-approved battery (EN-EL9a). 166 (blinks) Turn camera off, remove and replace battery, and then turn camera on again. 15, 25 Battery level is low. Complete operation and turn camera off immediately. - End cleaning and turn camera off and recharge or replace battery. 173 Clock not set. - Set camera clock. 19, 127 No memory card. S Turn camera off and confirm that card is correctly inserted. 20 Memory card is locked. ( Memory card is locked (write protected). Slide Slide lock to "write" position. (blinks) card write-protect switch to "write" position. 22 • Use approved card. 167 • Format card. If problem persists, card may be 21 damaged. Contact Nikon-authorized service representative. This memory card cannot be used. Card may be damaged. Insert another card. k (blinks) • Error creating new folder. Delete files or insert new memory card. • Insert new memory card. 33, 101 20 • Eye-Fi card is still emitting wireless signal after 139 Disable has been selected for Eye-Fi upload. To terminate wireless transmission, turn the camera off and remove the card. n 183
