Digital Exposure Metering Function 6 Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to meter the exposure multiple times. EV 7 1 3 ISO 100 Reset When you press the 4 button after metering the exposure, the first (!) and second (#) metering results appear on the scale. Scale icons 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 ! : First metered value # : Second metered value 9 : Current exposure value (EV) The first metered value is saved regardless of the number of times you meter the exposure. The third metered value, and all metered values thereafter, overwrite the second metered value and are saved. Press the i button to delete all metered values, including the first metered value, from the memory. You can start the exposure metering process again. Setting the Preferred Exposure Press the four-way controller (45) while the first and second metered values (or one thereafter) appear on the EV scale to increase or decrease the EV (which represents the standard combination of aperture and shutter speed) in one-half or one-third increments. (Refer to p.169 for instructions on selecting the Exposure Step for increasing and decreasing the EV.) Use this operation to set the EV and then press the 4 button again. The combination of aperture and shutter speed corresponding to that EV appears (the screen display changes to that in Step 4). Next, use the four-way controller (45) to view the different combinations of apertures and shutter speeds. With this method, in addition to simply using the metered value as is, you 9 can also obtain a combination of aperture and shutter speed based on a preferred EV using the first and second metered values (or one thereafter). 173
