1 3, 4 2 Taking Pictures c Aperture Priority Shooting In this mode, you can set the aperture manually. The camera 4 automatically sets the shutter speed to obtain the optimal exposure at the aperture you have chosen. Decreasing the aperture will produce a picture with a blurred background. Increasing the aperture will produce a picture in which both the foreground and the background are in focus. Use this function when you want to intentionally change the focusing range (depth of field). 1 Set the mode dial to c. 38 2 Use the four-way controller (23) to change the aperture. Pressing 2 increases the aperture and pressing 3 reduces the aperture. 1/250 3 Press the shutter release button F5.6 09/25/2004 14:25 halfway. The camera adjusts the shutter speed accordingly. If the appropriate exposure cannot be obtained, the shutter speed displayed on the LCD monitor turns red. The focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus. 4 Press the shutter release button fully. The picture is taken. Total recording time will be longer when the picture is taken at a slower shutter speed, because the noise reduction function activates to reduce picture noise. 50
