1. Introduction This chapter provides a brief overview of ELP NX. About Enhanced Locked Print NX 1 • Users log in to ELP NX using one of two methods: When authentication is not set (disabled) on the printer, users enter the ID and password specified for each job in the printer driver; when authentication is set (enabled), users enter the login user name and password pre-specified in the printer driver. • For security, only jobs related to the logged-in user appear on the display panel. This prevents unauthorized users accessing and printing other user's jobs. • ELP NX is a printing application that allows users to securely send print jobs from a computer to a network-connected printer. This application also allows users to send print jobs stored on the printer to another device. • ELP NX is installed in the printer itself, and compresses, encrypts, and stores documents securely in the printer. • Up to 500 print jobs for each user can be stored on the local hard disk of the printer. • The maximum page count per job is 9999. Accessing Extended Features Use the following procedure to access ELP NX with the [Switch Functions] key on the printer. 1. Press the [Switch Functions] key. 2. Press the [ ] or [ ] key to select [JavaTM/X], and then press the [OK] key. 3. If more than one extended feature is installed, use the [ ] or [ ] key to select [ELP NX (L)], and then press the [OK] key. The ELP NX screen appears. Log in to ELP NX. • For details about how to log in when user authentication is set on the printer, consult your administrator. 3
