PERCENTAGE CALCULATIONS ( 0" ) Two percent calculation keys are provided on the EL-733A: El (percent) and WY4 (percentage difference). These functions are handy for calculating quick percentages and percentage increases and decreases. Look at a couple examples: Example: What is 7% of 66? Solution: 66 0 7 El Result: 4.62 Example: Calculate 24.99 + 6%. Solution: 24.99 0 6 El Result: 26.49 Example: Decrease 24'000 by 16%. Solution: 24'000 H 16 el Result: 20160.00 El Generally H , or 0 the , keys key is used in conjunction for calculations similar to with the the ones ri, just shown. It can also be used in conjunction with the 0 key where it is essentially the same as pressing El 100 E. Example: What is 6'599'975'227 4%? Solution: 6'599'975'227 E) 4 El Result: 1.65 11 If the notation of the result (scientific notation) is confusing, you may want to review page 8. This notation is used to represent very large numbers in the display. Also, if you don't understand the apostrophe that appears in the display, review page 8. Notice that in the above solution, you can replace the El key with 0 100 E, and you will get the same result. As a business person, you may rarely use El with El . The WAI key is always used in conjuction with the El key. If you wish to know the percent increase or decrease between two numbers, start the calculation as if you are just taking the difference (subtracting), but instead of pressing the [H key to complete the calculation, press (2ndFj Example: Sales in your company were $75'000.00 during it's first year of operation. The second year sales were $1161000.00. Second year sales were what percent greater than first year sales? Solution: 116'000 H 75'000 2ndF kriol Result: 54.67 This result tells you that sales for the second year were up 54.67% over the sales of the first year. The percentage difference is calculated with the sales of the first year as the base for the percentage calculation. Pressing the 4% key, tells the calculator to perform the operation between the two numbers you just entered, to divide by the second number you entered, and then to multiply by 100. When the operation between the two numbers that you enter is , the result of pressing 2ndF 44°A1 is the percentage increase or decrease between the two numbers (a decrease will be displayed as a negative). If you use WA in conjunction with the operations M , n , or [H, it works through the formula described in the first sentence of this paragraph, but the meaning of the result is not as clearcut.

If
the
notation
of
the

you
may
want
to
review

This
notation
is
used
to
represent
very
large
numbers
in
the
display.
Also,
if
you
don't
understand
the
apostrophe
that
appears
in
the

Notice
that
in
the
above
solution,
you
can
replace

you
will
get
the

As
a

If
you
wish
to
know
the
percent
increase
or
decrease
between
two
numbers,
start
the
calculation
as
if
you
are
just
taking
the
difference
(subtracting),
but
instead
of
pressing
the
[H
key
to
complete
the
calculation,
press

of
operation.
The
second

Solution:
116'000
H
75'000
2ndF
kriol
Result:
54.67
This
result
tells
you
that
sales
for
the
second
year
were
up
54.67%
over
the
sales
of
the
fi
rst
year.
The
percentage
difference
is
calculated
with
the
sales
of
the
fi

year
as
the
base
for
the
percentage
calculation.
Pressing
the
4%
key,
tells
the
calculator
to
perform
the
operation
between
the
two
numbers
you
just
entered,
to
divide
by
the
second
number
you
entered,
and
then
to
multiply
by
100.
When
the
operation
between
the
two
numbers
that
you
enter
is

the
result
of
pressing
44°A1
is
the
percentage
increase
or
decrease
between
the
two
numbers
(a
decrease
will
be
displayed
as
a
negative).
If
you
use
WA
in

with
the
operations
M
,
n

,
it
works
through
the
formula
described
