Finalizing Finalizing is the addition of TOC (recorded data information) to discs. If you finalize a CD-R, it will become playable on other CD players. Finalized CD-R discs cannot be used for additional recording. If you finalize a CD-RW, it will become playable on other CD players that are compatible with CD-RW discs 4 Press the CD Play/Pause (t/J) button to start finalizing. 1 Press the input SOURCE button and select CD mode. Finalization starts. When finalization completes, the display will show "COMPLETE" briefly before returning to its ordinary appearance (total number of tracks and total playback time). < Never turn the power off nor unplug the power cord during finalization. < During finalization, no button works. 2 Load an unfinalized (recordable) disc. 3 Press the FINALIZE/ERASE button in the stop mode. Press the FINALIZE/ERASE button once. "FINALIZE" appears on the display. < If "UNFINALIZE" appears on the display, the disc is already finalized and so finalization is unnecessary. < To cancel the operation at this point, press the stop button (H). 36
