Appendix A Hot Keys Hot keys are keys that, when pressed in combination with the Fn key, turn system functions on and off. Hot keys have a legend on or above the key indicating the option or feature the key controls. Volume Mute Fn + This hot key enables/disables volume mute on your computer. When volume mute is enabled, no sound will come from the speakers or headphones. Instant password security Fn + This hot key blanks the display. The Fn + F1 key combination turns off the display and activates instant security. Using the pointing device or any key will return the user to the Windows® operating system log-in screen. After you select the appropriate user name and enter the correct password, the display content will reappear. 239

Instant password security
The
Fn + F1
key combination turns off the display and activates
instant security. Using the pointing device or any key will
return the user to the Windows
