Checking or Replacing the Engine Air CleaneVFilter 5. Align the tabs located on the bottom of the panel with the slots at the bottom of the housing. 6. Latch the hooks to secure the panel in place. If the panel moves easily, check that the tabs are seated correctly in the slots. 7. Put the duct back on and reinstall the clamps. Opera eng the le the with ail ne1 Iter off can cause you or others to be burned. The air cleaner not only cleans the air,it stops flame if the engine backfires. If isn't there it and the engine backfires, you could be burned. Don't drive with it off, and be careful working on the engine with the air cleaner/filter off. 1. Remove the two clamps on the duct. 2. Remove the duct. 3. Unlatch the two hooks on top of the engine air cleaner/filter housing. 4. Remove and replace the engine air cleaner/filter. Notice: If the air cleaner/filter is off, a backfire can cause a damaging engine fire.And, dirt can easily get into your engine, which will damage it. Always have the air cleaner/filter place when in you're driving. 5-19
