NOTE! If, after reading this manual, you have any questions about the maintenance, operation or use of your rifle, consult your dealer. Before using the firearm, you must thoroughly familiarize yourself with its use and operation, and with safe firearm handling in general. OPERATION CAUTION! Never load the rifle until you are ready to begin shooting. Always unload the rifle as soon as you are done shooting. Never cross a fence, climb a tree or jump a ditch with a loaded firearm. WARNING! Always make sure the barrel is free of all obstructions before chambering a cartridge. Firing with an obstructed barrel may cause serious injury. - Loading is performed in the usual manner for a bolt-action rifle. The action is opened by first raising the bolt handle and then pulling the bolt back. As the bolt is pushed forwards the cartridge is fed into the chamber and on rotating the handle downward the action is closed and the rifle cocked. - The safety is the usual on/off type. When engaged it also locks the bolt handle in the closed position. - The red warning dots (Fig. 3) indicate that the rifle is cocked and IS READY TO FIRE. The safety is now in the "Off" position. CAUTION! The manual safety is to minimize the potential for firing in the event of an unintentional pulling of the trigger. The manual safety and the gun's other safety features provide only partial protection against firing from other causes. The safety is only a mechanical device. It is not substitute for safe firearm handling. SIGHT ADJUSTMENTS All Tikka rifles supplied with sights are factory adjusted to zero at 100 m. If this is unsuitable, the sights can be adjusted. STANDARD-SIGHTS (FIG. 4) Windage adjustment can be made either by the front or rear sight. When adjusting rear sight (2) first slacken screw (1), and tap sideways in direction required. Front sight adjustments will be opposite to rear sight adjustments. E.g. to move shot to right, adjust front sight to left. Vertical adjustments are made by changing the bead. Your dealer can supply beads of different heights (5 - 9.5 mm). Each move of 0.5 mm in height or sideways alters the point of impact by roughly 12 cm at a range of 100 m. Before changing the bead the hood must be removed by pressing it backwards with the flat of the hand. The bead is detached by tapping it off its mount in a sideways direction. While removing the bead the mount must be supported firmly from below. After changing the bead it is essential to check the windage adjustment. If the rifle shots a little low (max. 10 cm), height adjustment may also be carried out by carefully filing down the tip of the bead. BATTUE-SIGHTS (FIG. 5) Windage adjustment can be made by moving the bead sideways in the opposite direction the point of impact should move. E.g. to move shot to right, adjust front sight to left. Before moving the bead, the hood must be removed by pressing it backwards with the flat of the hand. The bead is moved by tapping it in its mount in a sideways direction. While tapping the bead the mount must be supported firmly from below. After adjusting the bead it is essential to check the zeroing by shooting. Vertical adjustments are made by changing the height adjustment of the rear sight. The rear sight adjustment can be altered by first slacken either of the screws on the top of the rear sight and then tightening the other. Slackening the front screw will rise the rear sight and the point of impact and respectively slackening the rear screw will lower the rear sight and the point of impact. Each move of 0.5 mm in height or sideways alters the point of impact by roughly 12 cm at a range of 100 m. LOADING THE MAGAZINE (Fig. 6) Load the magazine by pressing the rear of the cartridge beneath the retaining lips and pushing rearwards. MAGAZINE DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY At times, you may need to disassembly the magazine in order to clean it from fouling, powder residues or dust. In order to do so, please follow these instructions: 1. Remove the magazine follower and spring. Depress the rear part of the follower with a screwdriver or a similar tool (Fig. 7) so that the follower's front end is released. 2. Pull out the follower and spring from the magazine box (Fig. 8). Do not detach the magazine floorplate. 3. Clean the box, spring and follower with either warm soapy water or paraffin. Lightly oil all parts before you reassembly the magazine. 4. Reassemble the magazine by reversing steps 1 and 2. STANDARD TRIGGER MECHANISM - Both the sear engagement and safety are set at the factory and need no adjustment of any kind. CAUTION! The sear engagement, safety and other components of the action are precision mechanisms, which were properly adjusted at the factory. They should not be altered, modified or changed. Modifications to the firearm may decrease its safety and increase the risk of serious injury. - Should you wish to alter the trigger pressure, the safest way is to detach the stock first. To do this, remove the trigger guard fastening screws. Trigger pressure can also be adjusted, with a proper tool, through the magazine opening, as shown in Fig. 10. TRIGGER ADJUSTMENT (FIG. 9) - The single-stage trigger is adjustable for weight of pull between 10 and 20 N (2 and 4 lbs). We set the trigger at the factory at 13 - 15 N (3 lbs). In order to ensure smooth performance and functioning, you should not increase trigger-pull weight. - You can adjust the trigger-pull weight by turning the screw (1) with an allen wrench. Lighten the trigger by turning counterclockwise. NOTE! Screw (1) is self-locking and can only be turned with a proper tool. NOTE! FOR SAFETY REASONS DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REDUCE TRIGGER PRESSURE BELOW 10 NEWTON (2 LBS). - When reassembling the stock, always remember to reinstall the aluminium re- coil block into its place in the stock. 15

All Tikka rifles supplied with sights are factory adjusted to zero at 100 m. If this is
unsuitable, the sights can be adjusted.
STANDARD-SIGHTS (FIG. 4)
Windage adjustment can be made either by the front or rear sight. When adjust-
ing rear sight (2) first slacken screw (1), and tap sideways in direction required.
Front sight adjustments will be opposite to rear sight adjustments. E.g. to move

ment may also be carried out by carefully filing down the tip of the bead.
BATTUE-SIGHTS (FIG. 5)
Windage adjustment can be made by moving the bead sideways in the opposite
direction the point of impact should move. E.g. to move shot to right, adjust front
sight to left. Before moving the bead, the hood must be removed by pressing it
backwards with the flat of the hand. The bead is moved by tapping it in its mount
in a sideways direction. While tapping the bead the mount must be supported
firmly from below. After adjusting the bead it is essential to check the zeroing by

Vertical adjustments are made by changing the height adjustment of the rear
sight. The rear sight adjustment can be altered by first slacken either of the
screws on the top of the rear sight and then tightening the other. Slackening the
front screw will rise the rear sight and the point of impact and respectively slack-
