It emits high-frequency radii, corrrnandsof digitally-pulsed data.It isnot necessary to maintain direct line of sight between the remote control and theLifestyle,' music center, nor tobein the sameroomas the Music Center. The remote control is effective within a range of 65feet (20meters) from theMusicCenter. It cancontrol the system from around corners, behind interior and/or exterior walls,oreven from out of doors. 1. ZONE: The Zone 1.2switchin the lower left coiner of the remote control directs which zone it will control. In the Zone 1position,all functions willbedirected toZone 1 only. or to a source given Zone 1 priority. In the Zone 2 position, the opposite is true: controls affect only Zone 2 priority sourceand Volume/Mute adjustment.(See the "Zones -A NewConcept" section.) 2. OFF: Turns the systemoffwhenonly one zoneisin use.When both zones areinuse, the OFFkey switches off only the zone for which theremote controlis currently set. Note: Whenbothzonesareinuse. shutting down theentire systemrequires twopressesoftheOFFkey, separatedbya changeoftheZONEswitch. However. MeMusic Center's OFFkeyswitchesoffbothzonessimultaneously. 3, LED:Lights to show thataremote control key has been pressed. Note: When theLEDdoesnotlightup, theremote controlwit stillwork butneedsnewbatteries. Alkalinebatteriesarerecommended. Replaceat/ threebatteriesat thesame time. 4. AUTO-OFF: Activatesaninternal"sleep-timer" that will switch off the selected zone after a predetermined delay. (See Auto-Off in "The Music Center Control Panel and Functions' section.) 5. VOL • / v: Adjusts the volume in the selected zone up or down by steps when pressed intermittently, or continuously whenheld down. 6. MUTE: Mutes the volumecompletelyina selected zone when pressed once. Press again to restore the previous volume level. Note:Pressingeither volumekeyalsoautomaticallyreleases ntuterly 7. 0-9 (NUMERIC KEYS): Help program theCD player or tuner preset. Pressing a numeric key alone has no effect. These keys are also used for direct access to a CD track or radio station stored in the memory. (See the "CompactDiscPlayer Operation" andlistening to the Radio' sections for further details.) •

The
remote
control
(see
Fig.
11)
provides
access
to
Music
Center
functions
from
any
zone.
It

LED:
Lights
to
show
that
a
remote
control
key
has
been
pressed.
Note:
When
the
LED
does
not
light
up,
the
remote
control
wit
still
work
but
needs
new
batteries.
Alkaline
batteries
are
rec-
ommended.
Replace
at/
three
batteries
at
the
same
time.
4.
AUTO
-OFF:
Activates
an
internal
"sleep
-timer"
that
will
switch
off
the
selected
zone
after
a
