Makeallcomponent connections beforepluggingin theAC power cord. • Connect theBose Acoustimase powered speaker system to the Lifestyle music center using the long audio input cable suppliedwith thespeaker.Insert thelongblack connector into the Music Centers rear panel jack marked SERIALDATA OUTPUT(seeFig. 2A).Insert theother twoconnectors filmy into the jacksmarked Zone1; the redendintothered(R)jack and the whiteintothewhite (L) jack. Note: Only theAcoustimasspoweredspeakersystemrequiresserialdata output connection. • Ifyouhave a BoseLifestyle powered speaker system for asecondroomor zone, insert its twoplugsintothejacks marked ZONE 2, as above. • Connect theFMantenna to the terminalsmarkedFM-75 a Connect the suppled AMloopantenna totheconnec- tor terminalmarked AM-LOOP(seeFig. 2A). Note:Internationalmodelsareequippedwitha VoltageSelectorswitchontheMusic Centerrearpanel, to operateona 1,20Vor220-240Vpowersupply. Makesure thatthisswitchis in theproperposition(useaHatscrewdrivertochangeposition), inaccordancewith thelocalpowersupply,beforepluggingtheMusic Centerpowercordintoanoudet (RefertoFig. 7A). Also. becauseAMchannelspacing differsfromcountry to country,besure toset the tunerselectswitchon thebottom oftheunit tocorrespondtotheareaofuse. Forexample,select IOW-tintheUSA, but9kHz wheninEurope. • Plug theMusic Center's power cord intoanAC(mains) wall outlet. • On the220-240Vmodelof the MusicCenter,makesure that the power switch on the back panel is switched ON (I). Thegreenpower indicator willlightup(seeFig. 2B) , showing that theunit is connectedandis energized. • • On 120Vand Internationalmodels, aredpower indicator (seeFig.2B)lightsuponlywhen theMusic Centeris turned on(whena functionkey is pressed). • The displaywillnotshowany information until youselecta function. • Toplay a compact disc,open theLifestyle music center by pressing the latch found on its front edge. Place a compact disc label sideup on theCDspindle(inside the CD tray) to the right. To close the lid, press gently until the latch clicks. • Set theremote control'sZONE switch to1andmake sure itsSPEAKERS switchisinposition A.Press theremote controlkeymarkedCD.When themusic starts.adjust the volumeusingtheVOL • and• keys.(See the "Compact DiscPlayerOperation" section for further details.) Note:Anyofthebluekeys(exceptforthe OFFkey)willturn theMusic Centeron. • Totry the tuner, stop the CDby pressingSTOPan the remotecontrolor theMusicCenterscontrol panel. Open theMusicCentercoverandrefer toinstructions printed inside the cover to preset a few radio stations. To listen to a station, press its preset number on the remote control numerickeys, thenimmediately pressTUNER. If youhaveaLifestylepowered speaker systeminanother area connected to theMusicCenter'sZone 2outputs,you may nowwishtotry itout. • Enter theZone2listeningarea.switch theremotecontrorsZONE switch to2, aridrepeat theaboveprocedure tohear theCDinZone2. Plug
the
Music
Center's
power
cord
into
an
AC
(mains)
wall
outlet.
This
section
will
enable
you
to
set
up
your
Lifestyle'
music
center
quickly,
to
enjoy
it
right
away.
Be
sure
to
refer
to
the
owner's
manual
provided
with
each
component
as
you
add
it
to
your
new
music
system.
Subsequent
parts
of
this
manual
contain
much
greater
detail
on
the
system.
We
urge
you
to
read
them
also,
as
soon
as
possible.
Make
all
component
connections
before
plugging
in
the
AC
power
cord.
Connect
the
Bose
Acoustimase
powered
speaker
sys-
tem
to
the
Lifestyle
music
center
using
the
long
audio
in-
put
cable
supplied
with
the
speaker.
Insert
the
long
black
connector
into
the
Music
Centers
rear
panel
jack
marked
SERIAL
DATA
OUTPUT
(see
Fig.
2A).
Insert
the
other
two
connectors
filmy
into
the
jacks
marked
Zone
1;
the
red
end
into
the
red
(R)
jack
and
the
white
into
the
white
(L)
jack.
Note:
Only
the
Acoustimass
powered
speakersystem
re-
quires
serial
data
output
connection.
If
you
have
a
Bose
Lifestyle
powered
speaker
system
for
a
second
ro
om
or
zone,
insert
its
two
plugs
into
the
jacks
marked
ZONE
2,
as
above.
Connect
the
FM
antenna
to the
terminals
marked
FM
-75
a
Connect
the
suppled
AM
loop
antenna
to
the
connec-
tor
terminal
marked
AM
-LOOP
(see
Fig.
2A).
Note:
International
models
are
equipped
with
a
Voltage
Se-
lector
switch
on
the
Music
Center
rear
panel,
to
operate
on
a
1,20Vor
220-240V
power
supply.
Make
sure
that
this
switch
is
in
the
proper
position
(use
a
Hatscrewdriver
to
change
posi-
tion),
in
accordance
with
the
local
power
supply,
before
plug-
ging
the
Music
Center
power
cord
into
anoudet
(Refer
to
Fig.
7A).
Also.
because
AM
channel
spacing
differs
from
country
to
country,
be
sure
to
set
the
tuner
select
switch
on
the
bottom
of
the
unit
to
correspond
to
the
area
of
use.
For
example,
se-
lect
IOW
-tin
the
USA,
but
9
kHz
when
in
Europe.
On
the
220-240V
model
of
the
Music
Center,
make
sure
that
the
power
switch
on
the
back
panel
is
switched
ON
(I).
The
green
power
indicator
will
light
up
(see
Fig.
2B)
,
showing
that
the
unit
is
connected
and
is
energized.
On
120V
and
International
models,
a
red
power
indicator
(see
Fig.
2B)
lights
up
only
when
the
Music
Center
is
turned
on
(when
a
function
key is
pressed).
The
display
will
not
show
any
information
until
you
select
a
function.
To
play
a
compact
disc,
open
the
Lifestyle
music
cen-
ter
by
pressing
the
latch
found
on
its
front
edge.
Place
a
compact
disc
label
side
up
on
the
CD
spindle
(inside
the
CD
tray)
to
the
right.
To
close
the
lid,
press
gently
until
the
latch
clicks.
Set
the
remote
control's
ZONE
switch
to
1
and
make
sure
its
SPEAKERS
switch
is
in
position
A.
Press
the
remote
control
key
marked
CD.
When
the
music
starts.
adjust
the
volume
using
the
VOL
and
keys.

"Compact
Disc
Player
Operation"
section
for
further
details.)
Note:
Any
of
the
blue
keys
(except
for
the
OFFkey)will
turn
the
Music
Centeron.
To
try
the
tuner,
stop
the
CD
by
pressing
STOP
an
the
remote
control
or
the
Music
Centers
control
panel.
Open
the
Music
Center
cover
and
refer
to
instructions
printed
inside
the
cover
to
preset
a
few
radio
stations.
To
listen
to
a
station,
press
its
preset
number
on
the
remote
control
numeric
keys,
then
immediately
press
TUNER.
If
you
have
a
Lifestyle
powered
speaker
system
in
another
area
connected
to the
Music
Center's
Zone
2
outputs,
you
may
now
wish
to
try
it
out.
Enter
the
Zone
2
listening
area.

CD

Zone
