Before You Begin (2) Thread Cutter Button CAUTION When the machine stops due to jammed threads and so forth, do not press on the foot controller; turn power off, and move the needle with the handwheel to check the situation. Otherwise broken needles could result. ● The thread cutter trims upper and bobbin threads at the end of seams. Thread Cutter Button ✽ Ensure presser foot lever is down before using. Needle Stop Position Button ● When indicator lamp is lit up, the machine will stop sewing with the needle lowered through the fabric. ● When the indicator lamp is off, the machine will stop as soon as the foot controller is released at the end of stitching. In that case, the needle does not always stop in the same position. ● If the safety device is activated, for example if the thread becomes tangled, the indicator lamp flashes. (page 28) Indicator Lamp Needle Stop Position Button 10 Feed Dog Adjustment Knob ● Height of feed dog can be adjusted to coincide with fabric weights. Feed Dog Adjustment Knob Foot Pressure and Feed Dog Position (Feed Dog Down) Velvet (Pin Feeding) Lightweight Fabrics Mediumweight Fabrics Heavyweight Fabrics Select one of four feed dog positions according to your needs. Note • If a setting other than is selected, the pin feed mechanism will not operate. • Coordinate the color coding for proper foot pressure and feed dog settings. • When activating the Pin Feed Mechanism, use only the Pin Feed Foot or the General Purpose Foot.
