DVD player performance is poor when running other programs simultaneously. Display is corrupted when playing some DVD movies. CD or DVD Drive Problem The DVD drive takes longer to start because it must first determine the type of media being played. DVD playback requires large amounts of processing power; therefore, the system cannot process other tasks simultaneously at maximum performance. Copyright material at the beginning of movie causes a momentary corruption. Solution Wait at least 30 seconds to let the DVD drive determine the type of media being played. If the disc still does not start, refer to the "Using Online Help and Support" section found earlier in this chapter. To provide maximum performance, close all other programs while playing DVD media. It may also be necessary to restart Windows to free all resources. Wait a few seconds for the video corruption to clear up.
