A node backup battery is tested every 14 days under normal conditions, but if a battery is missing, expired, or failed, it is not tested. In addition, the other battery connected to the same node is not tested because testing it would cause loss of battery backup to the node, and the system does not allow that. An untested battery has an Unknown status in the showbattery -s output.
