5. Lift the heat sink (3) off the top of the drive, and then remove the drive (4) from the bracket. 6. When installing a solid-state drive, be sure thermal pads are installed on the inside of the bracket (1) and the bottom of the heat sink (2). To install the solid-state drive, reverse the removal procedure. Hard drive To remove a hard drive, use these procedures and illustrations. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 18). 2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 19). Remove the hard drive: 1.
