Removal and Replacement Procedures- Microtower (MT) Chassis 6.8.2 Standard PCI Expansion Card For preliminary steps, see Section 6.8.1, "Expansion Slot Cover." If replacing a standard PCI expansion card, go to step 1. If installing a standard PCI or a PCI Express expansion card for the first time in a computer, skip to step 4. If replacing a Express expansion card, skip to Section 6.8.3, "PCI Express Expansion Card". 1. When removing a standard expansion card from a standard expansion socket, hold the card at each end, and carefully rock it back and forth until the connectors pull free from the socket. 2. Pull the expansion card straight up from the socket 1 then away from the inside of the chassis 2 to maneuver the card out of the computer. Ä CAUTION: Be sure not to scrape the card against the other components. Ä CAUTION: After removing an expansion card, you must replace it with a new card or cover the open slot (for example, with a metal slot cover or a piece of cardboard taped in place) for proper cooling of internal components during operation. 3. Store the old card in anti-static packaging that contained the new card. 4. 6.8.2 Standard PCI Expansion Card

If replacing a standard PCI expansion card, go to step 1.
If installing a standard PCI or a PCI Express expansion card for the first time in a computer,
skip to step 4.
If replacing a Express expansion card, skip to
Section 6.8.3, “PCI Express Expansion Card”
