Installing/Replacing the ink cartridge Before using the printer, you must install the ink cartridge. After initial installation, replace the ink cartridge when: • printed characters appear light or uneven • missing characters are evident • a print test reveals inconsistent character quality • cleaning has not improved the overall print quality IMPORTANT: Dispose the empty ink cartridge in accordance with all federal, state and local laws. 1. Locate the printer access door on the back of the scanner. 2. Slide your fingers under the printer access door handle and pull the door toward you. 3. Lift the printer access door off the scanner. 4. If you have the Enhanced Printer, continue with the next step. If you have a Document Printer, continue with Step 5 in the next section. 36 A-61550 July 2008

Installing/Replacing
the ink cartridge
Before using the printer, you must install the ink cartridge.
After initial installation, replace the ink cartridge when:
printed characters appear light or uneven
missing characters are evident
a print test reveals inconsistent character quality
cleaning has not improved the overall print quality
IMPORTANT: Dispose the empty ink cartridge in accordance with all
federal, state and local laws.

Locate the printer access door on the back of the scanner.
2.
Slide your fingers under the printer access door handle and pull the
door toward you.
3.
Lift the printer access door off the scanner.
4.
If you have the Enhanced Printer, continue with the next step. If you
have a Document Printer, continue with Step 5 in the next section.
