Known limitations Linux Issue: The number of pages value is not communicated to the SANE driver. The number of pages is just presented as a "tally" that the XSANE application uses to count the number of images that are captured. Solution: Set the Number of Pages field to a number that is larger than the number of images that will be captured in a batch. Issue: The LED on the scanner is red even though the scanner is securely connected to the PC. Solution: The LED will remain a steady red until your application connects to the scanner. Issue: If the following Communications error is displayed when you select a scanner after initially installing Linux drivers on Fedora 7, Please check to make sure the scanner has powered up successfully and the cable is securely attached to both the PC and the scanner. If you are still having a problem, power down the scanner, then power up the scanner, wait for it to finish initializing and try again. follow the steps in the "Solution" below: Solution: Before checking cable connections and performing the power down sequence: 1. Click OK on the message. 2. Select System>Administration>SELinux Management. 3. Enter your root/superuser password. The SELinux Administration screen will be displayed. 4. Select Permissive from the System Default Enforcing mode dropdown list. 5. Select Permissive from the Current Enforcing mode drop-down list. 6. Close the SELinux Administration screen and try again. 66 A-61550 July 2008
