To Establish a Dial-up Connection to a PC using a USB Cable Do the following on your e228: To Do this 1 Connect the e228 and the PC with a USB cable 2 Dial up 3 Disconnect Insert the USB cable to the I/O connector of the e228 and the USB hub on the PC. Note: The USB cable for the e228 is available as an optional accessory from 3. Note: Insert the USB cable vertically to the e228 (do not insert it at an angle). From the PC application, start the dial-up. A connection is established. Disconnect from the PC application. Do the following on the PC: Please ensure your e228 and the PC are connected via USB cable before proceeding. To 1 Add a new connection on PC 2 Dial 3 Start the Internet communication Do this Using Microsoft Dial-Up Networking, add a new connection ensuring the device used to make the connection is the NEC e228 Modem. Also ensure that the telephone number to dial is set to *99# Note: This procedure only needs to be performed once. Connect using this dial-up connection After connection is made, start up and use the appropriate Internet application (browser, mailer, instant messenger, etc.) Data exchange Data exchange is used to allow the transfer of data files between the phone memory (internal or external memory stick) and a PC. To use this functionality, you must first install the 228 PC File Transfer Tool. To install the software, refer to the Software manual on the optional CD-ROM accessory. You cannot use any other applications while data is being exchanged between your e228 and a PC. Please note that certain recurring appointments are not supported by this phone and as such may not be created on the phone during data exchange. Connecting your e228 to a PC -108-
