Configuring and Activating Interfaces
The Nokia IP2255 appliance automatically detects any new NICs when they
are completely installed.
If you are replacing a NIC with a new NIC of the same type, the Nokia IPSO
operating system automatically recognizes the NIC and applies the original
configuration to the new NIC. If you are installing a new NIC, configure the
new NIC by using Nokia Network Voyager or the CLI.
For information about how to access Network Voyager, see
“Using Nokia
Network Voyager”
on page 53. For information about how to access Network
Voyager, see
“Using the Command-Line Interface”
on page 55.
Monitoring NICs
You can assess the general operating condition of the NICs in your appliance
by looking at the LED status indicators on each NIC. The status indicators for
each NIC are explained in
Chapter 4, “Connecting to the Network Interface
Cards.”
Use Nokia Network Voyager or the CLI to access detailed port information.
For information about how to access Network Voyager, see

on page 53. For information about how to access Network
Voyager, see
“Using the Command-Line Interface”
on page 55.
You can also use the Nokia IPSO tcpdump command to examine the traffic on
a specific port.
