Then push the needle plate to the front so that it snaps in. Place the traced fabric tautly in an embroidering hoop. Cut one or two fibres in the fabric and push the fabric over the pin. The fabric must be tight against the pin all round. Draw the bobbin thread up and hold it for the first few stitches (placing presser bar lifter in darning position beforehand). Stitch around the cut with zigzag stitches, turning the hoop slowly clockwise at the same time. Finally, secure the stitches with a few straight stitches at the edge (Fig. 2). 119
