Troubleshooting Problem Food does not broil properly. The oven temperature is too hot or too cold. The oven will not self-clean. Possible cause The serving size may not be appropriate. The oven temperature is too high to start a selfclean operation. The oven controls have been set incorrectly. Solution Refer to the cooking guide for serving sizes on page 31, and then try again. See the broiling recommendation guide on page 31. As the number of racks or amount of food being cooked increases, the amount of visible steam will increase. This is normal in a new oven and will disappear in time. If the range is new, operate the oven empty on bake at 400 °F for 1 hour. You can also try wiping up residue in the oven when it is cool.
