If you wish to reformat a media card, be sure to do so with a device that uses media cards. Formatting an SD/SDHC memory card SD/SDHC memory cards are sold already formatted in conformity to specific standards. If you format the SD/SDHC memory card again, be sure to format it with the TOSHIBA SD Memory Card Format utility, not with the format command provided by Windows. In order to run the TOSHIBA SD Memory Card Format utility, click Start  All Programs  TOSHIBA  Utilities  SD Memory Card Format. The TOSHIBA SD Memory Card Format utility does not format the protected area of the SD/SDHC memory card - if you need to format all areas of the memory card, including the protected area, you will need to obtain an appropriate application that applies the copy protection system. Additional memory module You can replace the built-in memory with additional memory in order to to increase the amount of system memory that is available. This section describes how to install and remove optional memory modules. ■ You should place a mat beneath the computer in order to prevent the computer's lid from becoming scratched or damaged when you are installing/replacing the memory module. Memory media format
New media cards are formatted according to specific standards. If you wish
to reformat a media card, be sure to do so with a device that uses media
cards.
Formatting an SD/SDHC memory card
SD/SDHC memory cards are sold already formatted in conformity to
specific standards. If you format the SD/SDHC memory card again, be sure
to format it with the TOSHIBA SD Memory Card Format utility, not with the
format command provided by Windows.
