ZyXEL P-330W User's Guide 4.3.1 DHCP Setup DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the P330W as a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as a server, the P-330W provides the TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If DHCP service is disabled, you must have another DHCP server on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured. 4.3.2 IP Pool Setup The P-330W is pre-configured with a pool of 33 IP addresses starting from 192.168.10.33 to 192.168.10.65. This configuration leaves 32 IP addresses (excluding the P-330W itself) in the lower range for other server computers, for instance, servers for mail, FTP, TFTP, web, etc., that you may have. 4.3.3 System DNS Servers Refer to the IP Address and Subnet Mask section in the Setup Wizard chapter. 4.3.4 LAN TCP/IP The P-330W has built-in DHCP server capability that assigns IP addresses and DNS servers to systems that support DHCP client capability. 4.3.5 Factory LAN Defaults The LAN parameters of the P-330W are preset in the factory with the following values: • IP address of 192.168.10.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (24 bits) • DHCP server enabled with 33 client IP addresses starting from 192.168.10.33. These parameters should work for the majority of installations. If your ISP gives you explicit DNS server address(es), read the embedded web configurator help regarding what fields need to be configured. 4.3.6 IP Address and Subnet Mask Refer to the IP Address and Subnet Mask section in the Wizard Setup chapter for this information. 4.3.7 Configuring IP Click LAN to open the IP screen. 4.3.1
DHCP Setup
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual
clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the P-
330W as a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as a server, the P-330W provides the
TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If DHCP service is disabled, you must have another
DHCP server on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured.
4.3.2
IP Pool Setup
The P-330W is pre-configured with a pool of 33 IP addresses starting from 192.168.10.33 to
192.168.10.65. This configuration leaves 32 IP addresses (excluding the P-330W itself) in the
lower range for other server computers, for instance, servers for mail, FTP, TFTP, web, etc.,
that you may have.
4.3.3
System DNS Servers
Refer to the
IP Address and Subnet Mask
section in the
Setup Wizard
chapter.
4.3.4
LAN TCP/IP
The P-330W has built-in DHCP server capability that assigns IP addresses and DNS servers to
systems that support DHCP client capability.
4.3.5
Factory LAN Defaults
The LAN parameters of the P-330W are preset in the factory with the following values:
IP address of 192.168.10.1 with subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (24 bits)
DHCP server enabled with 33 client IP addresses starting from 192.168.10.33.
These parameters should work for the majority of installations. If your ISP gives you explicit
DNS server address(es), read the embedded web configurator help regarding what fields need
to be configured.
4.3.6
IP Address and Subnet Mask
Refer to the
IP Address and Subnet Mask
section in the
Wizard Setup
chapter for this
information.
4.3.7
Configuring IP
Click
LAN
to open the
IP
screen.
