Chapter 38 Troubleshooting I can hear echoes during voice calls? How can I solve this problem? The following factors may cause echo: • Acoustics. • Electromagnetic interference. • Faulty equipment. To prevent echo during voice calls, you can: • Check if the earpiece volume is too loud and overpowers the mouthpiece by covering your phone's mouthpiece. If the echo lessens, it means that you just need to turn down the volume of your earpiece/speakers. • Move your VoIP hardware away from your computer's monitor, CPU and power strip to avoid electromagnetic interference created when it is too close to other electrical devices. • Disconnect splitters and caller ID devices connected to your VMG and your phone. • Inspect your VoIP hardware's wiring. Make sure your cables are dry and not too long. • If there is another phone available, check if the phone is defective by using the other phone instead to see if your calls improve. • If you are using a headset, try using the phone's handset. • If you are using a cordless phone, try using a corded one.
