7 Using your machine with a Macintosh® Setting up your USB-equipped Apple® Macintosh® ■ Before you can connect the machine to your Macintosh®, you must buy a USB cable that is not longer than 6 feet (2 metres). Do not connect the machine to a USB port on a keyboard or a non-powered USB hub. ■ Some descriptions in this chapter are based on the MFC-8840D. These descriptions also apply to the MFC-8440, MFC-8640D, MFC-8840DN, DCP-8040 and DCP-8045D. ■ The screens shown in this chapter are from MFC-8840D.
