If you are using a Voice over IP (VoIP) service, Brother recommends changing the compatibility to Basic (for VoIP). • VoIP is a type of phone system that uses an Internet connection, rather than a traditional phone line. Option Basic (for VoIP) Description Select Basic (for VoIP) to reduce the modem speed to 9600 bps and turn off Error Correction Mode (ECM). Unless interference is a recurring problem on your telephone line, you may prefer to use it only when needed.
