Syncro Slave Recording Synchro slave recording allows you to control FS-4 operation completely from the video camera. Make sure the FS-4 is in STOP mode and that the video camera and the FS-4 are connected. Also make sure that a video tape is in the camera unless your camera supports tapeless recording. If it does support tapeless recording, refer to the section, "Setup Screen" on page 37. Step 1: From the FS-4 Home screen, press the Right navigation key several times until the Control Screen appears on the screen as shown below: Step 2: Use the Down navigation key to select Synchro Slave. The dash on the left side of the selection indicates the current selection. The default value is Local. Step 3: Press the center Select button on the navigation keys. The beginning screen returns and a Pause indicator appears in the upper left-hand corner of the FS-4 screen. Next to this symbol, is a "Y" indicating that control for both units is from the video camera. Step 4: You can now use the video camera record controls and the FS-4 will respond to these controls. The recording signal goes both to the tape in the camera and to the FS4. NOTE: By selecting EXT TC in the Setup menu, you can record the camcorder's Timecode in the file. NOTE: You can also perform these tasks using customized function keys. For information on setting up function keys, refer to the section, "Functions Screen" on page 42 18
