Initialization and Administrative Procedures 2-25 Copying a Web to the virtual site You can create offline documents that were created in FrontPage or any other webpage editor and save these files to the website just as easily. FrontPage has many examples and outlines from which to start. The user can bring up one of these examples, modify it, and then save it to the website. 1. Start FrontPage. 2. Create the desired page, and then save it locally to your disk. 3. Click File, and then click Open. 4. Type the name of the site in the file name field, for example http://, and then click Open. The first time that the site is accessed you are prompted for a user name and password and must use the site administrator ID and password of the virtual site to access it. FrontPage creates a Web folder for the site, and the directory and file structure of the site are displayed. 5. Find and double-click the file name index.html. This file name is the virtual home page for the virtual site. FrontPage opens this file to edit in a new FrontPage window. 6. Make any modifications to index.html, up to and including deleting all text. The user can cut from one window and paste to the other or insert another page created earlier. 7. To insert a previously created file, click Insert, and then click File. Locate the file saved above and double-click it. This action inserts the entire saved file into index.html. When you are finished editing the page, save it.
