Pointing Devices and Keyboard Hotkey and Shortcut Key Procedures Most hotkeys and shortcut keys can be used as described at anytime and from within any application, with 2 exceptions: I To use hotkeys or shortcut keys on an external keyboard, press the scroll lock key twice, then the other key only of the hotkey combination. For example, to use the Fn+F10 hotkeys, press scroll lock+scroll lock+F10. I The Fn+F6 hotkeys (as scroll lock+scroll lock+F6) cannot be used on an external keyboard connected through a USB connector. For information about entering hotkey commands sequentially, refer to "Using the Fn Key Sequentially" later in this section. Turn a MultiPort Device On or Off (Fn+F2) Press Fn+F2 to toggle a device in the MultiPort on (to send or receive messages) or off (to conserve power). The status light on the device is on when power is on and off when power is off. The Fn+F2 hotkeys are enabled by default. The device in the MultiPort can be set to remain on or off with the Fn+F2 hotkeys disabled in Computer Setup. To access these settings: 1. To open Computer Setup, turn on or restart the computer, then press F10 as soon as the Compaq splash screen is displayed. (An F10 = ROM Based Setup message is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen.) ❏ To change the language, press F2. ❏ To view navigation information, press F1. ❏ To return to the Computer Setup menu, press esc. 2.
