Hardware Upgrades Upgrading Memory You can increase RAM (random access memory) with optional PC Cards or memory expansion boards. The computer has 2 memory expansion slots and 2 PC Card slots. The PC Card slots support 2 Type I or Type II PC Cards or 1 Type III PC Card. Viewing Memory and Hibernation File Information When RAM increases, the hard drive space reserved for the hibernation file also increases. Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Professional manage this increase. If the computer is running Windows NT 4.0 or if you experience problems with Hibernation in any operating system after increasing RAM, verify that your hard drive has enough free space for the larger hibernation file. Viewing Memory and Hibernation File
Information
When RAM increases, the hard drive space reserved for the
hibernation file also increases. Windows 98 and Windows 2000
Professional manage this increase.
If the computer is running Windows NT 4.0 or if you experience
problems with Hibernation in any operating system after
increasing RAM, verify that your hard drive has enough free
space for the larger hibernation file.
To view the amount of RAM in the system:
Windows 98 and Windows 2000 Professional
Select
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Compaq Diagnostics.
Windows NT 4.0
Select Start > Programs >
Administrative Tools > Compaq Diagnostics.
To view the amount of free space on your hard drive:
Select My Computer. Right-click your hard drive, then select
Properties.
To view the amount of space required by the hibernation file:
Windows 98
Select Start > Settings > Control Panel >
Power > Hibernation tab.
