Syntax neighbor {ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-group-name} timers extended idle holdtime To return to the default values, use the no neighbor {ip-address | ipv6-address | peer-groupname} timers extended idle holdtime command. Parameters ip-address Enter the IP address of the peer router in dotted decimal format. ipv6-address Enter the IPv6 address of the peer router in X:X:X:X::X format. peer-group-name Enter the name of the peer group to set the timers for all routers within the peer group. timers extended idle Enter a number for the time interval, in seconds, for the peer to be idle state. The range is holdtime from 1 to 32767. The default is 15 seconds. Defaults The default idle holdtime is 15 seconds. Command Modes Command History ROUTER BGP This guide is platform-specific. Usage Information The peer remains in idle state based on the configured idle holdtime. The less the idle holdtime, less the peer in idle state. For the new idle holdtime to take effect, you need to shutdown the respective peer manually using neighbor shutdown command and enable the peer again. neighbor update-source Enable the E-Series software to use Loopback interfaces for TCP connections for BGP sessions. Syntax neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} update-source interface To use the closest interface, use the no neighbor {ip-address | peer-group-name} updatesource interface command. Parameters ip-address peer-group-name Enter the IP address of the peer router in dotted decimal format. Enter the name of the peer group to disable all routers within the peer group.
