5 Self test This test doesn't read an image or send any image data. It simply lets you see that the scanner is operating properly before you connect it to your computer. 1. Open the document cover so you can see the operation of the scanner during the self test. 2. Turn on the scanner by pressing the OPERATE button. When the scanner is initializing, the fluorescent lamps on the carriage flash and the carriage's position is reset. If the carriage is not at the home position (the rear of the scanner), it moves to the home position before checking the fluorescent lamps. The scanner next goes through a lamp test sequence. The carriage starts moving from the rear of the scanner (the home position) toward the front, with the green lamp on. 1-6 Setup

Self test
This test doesn’t read an image or send any image data. It
simply lets you see that the scanner is operating properly
before you connect it to your computer.
1.
Open the document cover so you can see the operation of
the scanner during the self test.

Turn on the scanner by pressing the

button.
When the scanner is initializing, the fluorescent lamps on the
