112 Getting Connected Tap Disconnect & unpair if you want the phone to erase all pairing information with the hands-free headset or car kit. You will be prompted to enter the passcode again when you connect to that Bluetooth device. Adding the Bluetooth widget Add the Bluetooth widget to the Home screen to make it faster for you to turn Bluetooth on or off. To learn how to add widgets, refer to "To add an HTC widget" in Chapter 1. 6.6 Using Your Phone as a Modem If you find yourself in a place without an Internet access for your computer, you can connect your computer to the Internet by using your phone's data connection (3G, for instance) or Wi-Fi connection. Important You need to install HTC Sync before you can use your phone as a modem. Refer to "Using HTC Sync " in Chapter 9 for details. Note You need a SIM card installed on your phone to use it as a modem for your computer. 1. Make sure your phone's data connection is turned on. See "Turning GPRS/3G on or off" earlier in this chapter to learn how to turn on the phone's data connection. 2. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable. 3. When the Select default type dialog box appears, select Mobile network sharing, and then tap Done. Note When using Mobile network sharing, the USB mass storage feature is disabled. Also, you will not be able to use HTC Sync.

6.6 Using Your Phone as a Modem

Important
You need to install HTC Sync before you can use your phone as a modem. 
Refer to “Using HTC Sync “ in Chapter 9 for details.

Make sure your phone’s data connection is turned on. See “Turning GPRS/²G 
on or off” earlier in this chapter to learn how to turn on the phone’s data 
connection.
2.
Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable.
3.
When the Select default type dialog box appears, select

Note
