Compute Building Block (CBB) Maximum of 38 "1U" compute nodes or 18 "2U" nodes within each CBB. Consists of compute nodes, network switches (2 in each CBB), and Power Distribution Units (PDUs). The CBB can hold a maximum of 38 1U application nodes, 18 2U nodes or 9 4U nodes. High-density configurations are created from the following Gigabit Ethernet interconnects: • ProCurve 2824 (20 ports) • ProCurve 2848 (40 ports) • ProCurve 5308 (32 ports) • ProCurve 9304M (56 ports) • ProCurve 9308M (120 ports) • Myricom 64-port interconnect • Myricom 128-port interconnect There is significant flexibility in creating each solution. For example, a single rack solution is created using the 40-port HP ProCurve 2848. This system will accommodate up to thirty-two 1U application nodes and a control node, or seventeen 2U application nodes and one control node. If the control node must be connected to the interconnect, a maximum of 39 of the available 40 ports are used for application nodes. To create two-rack solutions, a CBB is added to the single-rack solution.
