For instructions on installing a second power supply, see Section 5.5. The HP 5300xl Series come with an accessory kit that includes the brackets for mounting the switch in a standard 19-inch rack. The accessory kit contains the following items: • 2 mounting brackets • six 10 mm M4 screws to attach the mounting brackets to the switch • four 5/8-inch number 12-24 screws • console cable • power cord You will need a #1 Phillips (cross-head) screwdriver to install or remove the switch from a rack. Follow these steps to install the switch in the rack: 1. Attach the mounting brackets to the switch with the included 10-mm M4 screws. The ProCurve 5308xl uses three screws for each side of the bracket, as show in Figure 5-7. Figure 5-7 Mounting Bracket for ProCurve 5308xl 2. Put aside the 12-24 screws that came with the accessory kit and locate the cage nuts and screws that came with the rack. Install two cage nuts in the appropriate location on each side of the rack column. Partially install a screw through the bottom cage nut on each side of the rack column. 3. Place the switch in the rack and lower it so the notches in the bottom of the bracket slide onto the screws, as shown in Figure 5-8. Tighten the screws. 44 HP ProCurve 5308xl

screws that came with the rack. Install two cage nuts in the appropriate location on each
side of the rack column. Partially install a screw through the bottom cage nut on each side
of the rack column.
3.
Place the switch in the rack and lower it so the notches in the bottom of the bracket slide
onto the screws, as shown in
Figure 5-8
. Tighten the screws.
