Chapter 12 Troubleshooting WARNING There is a danger of explosion if the battery is incorrectly installed. For your safety, never attempt to recharge, disassemble, or burn the old battery. Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions. 1. Power down the HP Netserver and unplug power cord. 2. Gain access to the system board by following the appropriate instructions for removing the chassis from the rack and removing the top cover. Refer to Chapter 2, "Opening and Closing the HP Netserver," to gain access to the system board. 3. If necessary, remove the PCI board to gain access to the battery. See Figure 12-2. 4. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool between the battery and spring latch. See Figure 12-3. 5. Push the spring latch away from battery to release the battery. The spring contacts beneath the battery cause it to pop up allowing you to grasp the battery. 6. Remove the existing battery. 108

1. Power down the HP Netserver and unplug power cord.
2. Gain access to the system board by following the appropriate instructions for
removing the chassis from the rack and removing the top cover.
Refer to Chapter 2, "Opening and Closing the HP Netserver," to gain
access to the system board.
3. If necessary, remove the PCI board to gain access to the battery.
See Figure 12-2.
4. Insert a small flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool between the battery and
spring latch. See Figure 12-3.
5. Push the spring latch away from battery to release the battery.
The spring contacts beneath the battery cause it to pop up allowing you to
grasp the battery.
6. Remove the existing battery.
