Power ■ When battery charge displays report large changes in the percent of power remaining within 2 minutes. For example, if the Windows Power Meter displays 20 percent of a full charge remaining and then less than 2 minutes later displays only 5 percent of a full charge remaining, the rapid drop in charge remaining indicates that the battery pack needs calibration. For more information about battery charge displays, refer to the "Monitoring the Charge in a Battery Pack" section earlier in this chapter. How to Calibrate To calibrate a battery pack, you must fully charge, fully discharge, and then fully recharge the battery pack while the notebook is in Windows. Charging the Battery Pack Charge the battery pack while the notebook is on. To charge the battery pack: Å WARNING: Do not charge the notebook battery pack onboard aircraft. Charging the battery pack may damage aircraft electronic systems. 1. Insert the battery pack into the notebook. 2. Connect the notebook to external power through the AC adapter or an optional combination power adapter. (The notebook battery light is on as the battery pack charges.) 3.
