Display assembly Description Spare part number 14.1-inch, WXGA, BrightView display assembly for use only in computer models with a camera module (includes microphones) 486728-001 14.1-inch, WXGA, BrightView display assembly for use only in computer models without a camera 486729-001 module (includes microphones) Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 43). 5. Disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 49). 6. Remove the following components: a. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 56) b. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 44) c. Switch cover (see Switch cover on page 58) Remove the display assembly: 1. Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you. 2. Open the display as far as possible. 3. Remove the wireless antenna cables (1) from the hole in the system board and the routing channels built into the top cover. 62 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

).
5.
Disconnect the wireless antenna cables from the WLAN module (see

).
6.
Remove the following components:
a.

Remove the display assembly:
1.
Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you.
2.
Open the display as far as possible.
