Connector types IMPORTANT: Connector pins and connector gold fingers should not be touched directly with bare hands. There are several different types of connectors on the system board with different requirements for cable removal or insertion. Flex cable When connecting flex cables, push the cable completely, evenly into the connector. When removing flex cables from a ZIF connector on the system board, always follow these steps: 1. Squeeze on the top of the retaining latch attached to the cable end of the connector. 2. Grasp the cable end of the connector and pull it straight out. CAUTION: Always release connector latch before removing the cable. Otherwise, pulling the cable could damage the cable pins and result in a failed device. Horizontal installation cable Use flat tool to pull connector evenly. Do not pull on cable to remove. Slide connector into receptacle on same horizontal plane as board and use flat tool to push evenly into receptacle. 136 Chapter 7 Troubleshooting guide

When connecting
