Installing, adapter

Page 45 highlights

Heat-sink-release lever c. Align the heat sink with the microprocessor and retention bracket. d. Slide the rear flange of the heat sink into the opening beneath the retention-bracket spring. e. Press firmly on the heat sink so that it slips completely into the retention bracket. Note: When the heat sink is seated correctly, the heat-sink-release lever starts to cam toward the rear of the server. f. Close the heat-sink-release lever by pressing it down, then toward the microprocessor, then up until it hooks on the retention bracket. You might notice an audible snap as you rotate the lever, due to the spring force beneath the microprocessor; this is normal. 10. Insert the voltage regulator module (VRM) into the VRM connector (see the illustration on page 28). The support bracket hooks into the chassis and the retaining clips snap into the locked position when the VRM is firmly seated in the connector. 11. If you have other options to install, do so now; otherwise, close the microprocessor air baffle, replace the frame-support bracket (see "Removing and installing the support bracket" on page 14) and go to "Completing the installation" on page 38. Installing an adapter The following notes describe the types of adapters that the server supports and other information that you must consider when installing an adapter. v Locate the documentation that comes with the adapter and follow those instructions in addition to the instructions in this section. If you must change the switch setting or jumper settings on the adapter, follow the instructions that come with the adapter. v Read the documentation that comes with your operating system. Chapter 2. Heat-sink-release
lever
c.
Align
the
heat
sink
with
the
microprocessor
and
retention
bracket.
d.
Slide
the
rear
flange
of
the
heat
sink
into
the
opening
beneath
the
retention-bracket
spring.
e.
Press
firmly
on
the
heat
sink
so
that
it
slips
completely
into
the
retention
bracket.
Note:
When
the
heat
sink
is
seated
correctly,
the
heat-sink-release
lever
starts
to
cam
toward
the
rear
of
the
server.
f.
Close
the
heat-sink-release
lever
by
pressing
it
down,
then
toward
the
microprocessor,
then
up
until
it
hooks
on
the
retention
bracket.
You
might
notice
an
audible
snap
as
you
rotate
the
lever,
due
to
the
spring
force
beneath
the
microprocessor;
this
is
normal.
10.
Insert
the
voltage
regulator
module
(VRM)
into
the
VRM
connector
(see
the
illustration
on
page
28).
The
support
bracket
hooks
into
the
chassis
and
the
retaining
clips
snap
into
the
locked
position
when
the
VRM
is
firmly
seated
in
the
connector.
11.
If
you
have
other
options
to
install,
do
so
now;
otherwise,
close
the
microprocessor
air
baffle,
replace
the
frame-support
bracket
(see
“Removing
and
installing
the
support
bracket”
on
page
14)
and
go
to
“Completing
the
installation”
on
page
38.
Installing
an
adapter
The
following
notes
describe
the
types
of
adapters
that
the
server
supports
and
other
information
that
you
must
consider
when
installing
an
adapter.
v
Locate
the
documentation
that
comes
with
the
adapter
and
follow
those
instructions
in
addition
to
the
instructions
in
this
section.
If
you
must
change
the
switch
setting
or
jumper
settings
on
the
adapter,
follow
the
instructions
that
come
with
the
adapter.
v
Read
the
documentation
that
comes
with
your
operating
system.
