Chapter 8-Advanced Features 8.3 XML Printing Printers running Direct Protocol v8.60 are XMLReady™, and have support for Oracle MSCA/WMS and SAP Auto-ID Infrastucture (AII) XML document types. XML data can be sent over the network to the printer, triggering a label (or labels) to be printed with the variables defined in the layout file substituted by values defined in the XML information. The basics to enable an XML-printing system are: 1 Create a layout file, where variables are enclosed with slashes. You can do this using LabelShop in conjunction with XMLLabel software, or manually. For example: PP 100,100 PT "Intermec understands " + /my variable/ 2 Save this file with the .lbx suffix, for example "XmlLayout.lbx". Then transfer it to the printer, for example with FTP. 3 Configure your host to send data by TCP to the printer's port 9200, or alternatively, through HTTP POST to the URL "/xml/pv" with Content-Length set or chunked Transfer-Encoding used. 4 Send your XML formatted information with the method chosen in step 3. Oracle: Oracle XML SAP AII: SAP XML The label is printed when the XML data is finished parsing, or when the connection is closed. 84 Intermec Direct Protocol v.8.60-Programmer's Reference Manual
