Using the ThinkServer EasyStartup program The ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD simplifies the process of configuring your RAID controllers and installing an operating system. The program works in conjunction with your Windows or Linux operating-system installation disc to automate the process of installing the operating systems and associated device drivers. If you did not receive an ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD with your server, you can download an image from the Lenovo Support Web site at http://www.lenovo.com/support. The EasyStartup program has the following features: • Self-booting DVD • Easy-to-use, language-selectable interface • Integrated help system • Automatic hardware detection • RAID configuration utility • Device drivers provided based on the server model and detected devices • Selectable partition size and file system • Support for multiple operating systems • Installs the operating system and device drivers in an unattended mode to save time • Creates a reuseable response file that can be used with similarly configured Lenovo servers to make future installations even faster. Before you use the EasyStartup DVD Functionality and supported operating systems can vary with different versions of the EasyStartup program. To learn more about the version you have, do the following: 1. Insert the ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD and restart the server. 2. Advance to the Home screen. 3. Click Compatability notes. The compatability notes feature provides detailed information about the RAID controllers, operating systems, and server configurations supported by that version of the EasyStartup program. 4. Click User Guide. The User Guide provides an overview of the various functions provided by that version of the EasyStartup program. Before using the EasyStartup program to install an operating system, make sure any external storage devices and fiber channels are configured correctly. Setup and configuration When you start the ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD, you will be prompted for the following: • Select the language in which you want to view the program. • Select the language of the keyboard you will be using with the program. Note: The following language keyboards are supported: English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Turkish, Italian, and Dutch. Your ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD might be English only. The
ThinkServer EasyStartup DVD
