Input source selection and surround setup Useful functions for playback 3-D BASS BASS TREBLE LJJ Adjusting the:tone The BASS and TREBLE controls only affect the Left and Right front speakers; the 3-D BASS control affects the Left/Right front speakers plus the Center speaker. BASS: Adjust to strengthen or weaken bass response. TREBLE: Adjust to strengthen or weaken treble response. 3-D BASS: Use to enhance reproduction of ultra-low frequencies. When this button is pressed the "3-DB" indicator lights up in the display. PHONES 0 Using headphones Headphones with a standard stereo plug can be inserted into the PHONES jack. Inserting headphones causes the following: • No sound output from the speakers connected to the FRONT MAIN speaker terminals. • Automatically sets the "STEREO" mode. • Sound from only the Left and Right front channels can be heard in the multi-channel input mode. DIMMER Changing the brightness of the display You can make the display dimmer when watching a movie in a darkened room and make it brighter when operating the unit. Press the DIMMER button. Each time you press this button, the brightness changes in four steps: bright, normal, low, and off. 6 -6 000 000 1J MUTING octal coc u 00 SLEEP Using the Muting function When you receive a phone call, you can disable the audio output to all channels temporarily. Press the MUTING button. "MUTING" appears on the display and the audio output to the FRONT MAIN, PRE OUT and PHONES channels stop. To enable the audio output, press the MUTING button again. Note: • Audio output to the FRONT REMOTE SPEAKERS channel will not be stopped. • The Muting function will be canceled automatically if the unit's power switch is turned off. Falling asleep with music peep function) You can turn off the power supplied to the TX-DS656 automatically at a specified time. Press the SLEEP button. The 1-i-- at which the unit turns off appears on the display. Each time you press this button, the time decreases by 10 minutes, from the initial time of 90 minutes to 0 (OFF). Pressing the button repeatedly, however, changes the set time. Note: Pressing the SLEEP button when the Sleep time display is 10 minutes or less cancels the Sleep function. 31
