CHAPTER 7 LAN 7.1 Overview This chapter describes how you can configure the IP address of your NWA1121-NI. The Internet Protocol (IP) address identifies a device on a network. Every networking device (including computers, servers, routers, printers, etc.) needs an IP address to communicate across the network. These networking devices are also known as hosts. Figure 41 IPv4 Setup The figure above illustrates one possible setup of your NWA1121-NI. The gateway IPv4 address is 192.168.1.1 and the IPv4 address of the NWA1121-NI is 192.168.1.2 (default). The gateway and the device must belong in the same subnet mask to be able to communicate with each other. 7.2 What You Can Do in this Chapter Use the LAN IP screen to configure the IP address of your NWA1121-NI (see Section 7.4 on page 96). 7.3 What You Need to Know The Ethernet parameters of the NWA1121-NI are preset in the factory with the following values: 1 IP address of 192.168.1.2 2 Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (24 bits) NWA1121-NI User's Guide 94
