Shifting IntoPARK (P) Steering Column ShiftLever 1. Hold the brake pedal down with your right foot and set the parking brake. A CAUTION: It can be dangerous get out of your vehicle if to the shiftlever is not fully in PARK (P) with the parking brakefirmly set. Your vehiclecan roll. If you have left the engine running, thevehicle can move suddenly.You or others could be injured. To be sure your vehicle won't move, even when you're on fairly level ground, use the stepsthat follow. If you have four-wheel drive andyour transfer case is in NEUTRAL (N), your vehicle willbe freeto roll, even if your shift lever isin PARK (P).
